Wang Lama, also known as Tsewang Lama was born on 30 October 1990, to a farming family, in Tibetan speaking Buddhist Community called Nyinba in Humla district, Mid-western Nepal. Wang has a special biography. Not only is he the first fine art artist graduate from Humla; he also spent most of his childhood in a village in Humla and came relatively late to the city for studies. He is painter, sculptor, designer, illustrator, traveler and photographer. He spent some years in a boarding school in Kathmandu and later he was transferred to India for further study. He was interested in art from early age which gained momentum after meeting Mr. Sanjay Kumar and Mr. Baldev Singh in India from whom he received guidance.
In 2010 he finished his intermediate education in arts from Chandigarh. During his two years stay in Chandigarh and a year in Kathmandu he has participated several art workshops and group exhibitions. In 2009 he received first prize in all India art competition organized by the Himachal State Museum Shimla India. In 2014 he finished his Bachelor degree in Fine Arts from Kathmandu University School of arts, centre for art and design Nepal. He has worked with GiZ Nepal as a Photographer. He has also illustrated in several books and magazines. His paintings are displayed in Government Museum Chandigarh and different international hotels in Nepal and abroad. In 2014 he has represented one of his artwork for auction in support of flood relief and again in 2015 he has donated another painting to Red Panda Network: International organization working for Red panda conservation, as support for red panda conservation in Nepal Himalaya.
